Get clarity on your finances. Figure out when you can retire, what you're on track for, how much you can spend, when to take Social Security, how to invest your retirement nest egg, and more. Whether we do detailed planning or you just want to ask some questions, you'll be better informed. We generally take stock of your resources like Social Security or pension income, plus any assets earmarked for retirement. Then, we review your projected spending, including potential changes to spending over time. All the while, we keep taxes, investment returns, inflation, and other factors top-of-mind. And we can run various what-if scenarios to take an optimistic or pessimistic view—or just explore possibilities. How do we work together? It's your choice: Do it yourself, or have me handle your investments—you are not required to transfer assets or invest any minimum amount. Options include flat-fee or one-time project work, asset management, and other arrangements. You can choose a model that meets your needs and feels right for you. Get a second set of eyes, ask a few questions online, get a quick investment review, or go with an ongoing relationship. With that information, you can make informed decisions. Can you retire early? How much can you spend after taxes? Does it make sense to pursue strategies like Roth IRA conversions (to avoid IRMAA surcharges and manage taxes)? Are annuities worth looking at, and should you keep the products somebody else sold you? When it comes to investing, I favor a simple approach. Portfolios and recommendations are primarily index-based, consisting of mutual funds or ETFs. I do not receive any commissions for selling products, and I'm not a fan of active trading or picking individual stocks. Let's get things figured out so you can move on to more important things in life. Whether you prefer to spend time with loved ones, get outdoors, or enjoy other pursuits, completing those necessary financial tasks makes it easier. I earned an MBA and MSIS from the University of Colorado in 2003 and became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional in 2010. I first got licensed with a financial firm in 2000. I’ve also written about personal finance, loans, insurance, retirement, early retirement, and more for the past 15+ years. Let’s talk! I grew up watching my parents pour everything they had into building small businesses from the ground up. Their work ethic was unmatched. But despite all their success, true financial security always seemed just out of reach. The missing piece? A cohesive plan to tie it all together. That stuck with me. It’s why I chose this path - to help people like my parents turn years of hard work into lasting peace of mind. It’s work that’s deeply meaningful to me, and one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I partner with clients to turn complex financial questions into clear, actionable strategies—especially around retirement timing, income planning, and tax efficiency. The goal isn’t just to create a plan, but to help you make confident decisions at every stage of life. Whether you are mid-career, nearing retirement, or just looking for a clearer path forward, I offer calm, objective guidance to help you move ahead with confidence. I especially enjoy working with Gen X professionals who are feeling the pressure of catching up—and are ready to take action. If you’re motivated to close the gap and build a secure, flexible future, we’re probably a strong fit.

When I faced a life-changing challenge that required me to step back from work, I learned the importance of financial peace firsthand. Because my finances were organized, I could focus on healing without worrying about affording treatment or how long I could go without income. That mental clarity was as important as any medical care I received. Now, I bring both the technical expertise as a CPA/PFS and CFP® professional, and the real-world understanding of how financial stability creates freedom when life takes unexpected turns. Because it inevitably will, whether that’s wanting to pursue a career change, evolving family responsibilities, or going after new opportunities without financial stress. As your financial planner, my goal is to help you build an emotional and practical sense of security around money. The numbers and strategies matter, but they're really about creating space for you to live fully, knowing that whatever comes your way, you'll have the financial foundation to handle it with grace. I'm honored to partner with you in creating your WealthPeace.

I am Chris Brown, Ph.D., CFP®, a fee-only financial planner with a strong desire to help families optimize their financial resources in retirement. I am a CFP® professional specializing in investment management, comprehensive retirement planning, and tax planning. I can work with clients in all 50 states. I entered the field of financial planning later in life, after a long career as a Finance professor. I have taught numerous students who now work as financial advisors for companies all over the country. I developed a deeper interest in financial planning a few years ago and began to learn all I could about the financial aspects of retirement. I began to focus on Roth conversion strategies, alternatives to turn retirement into a long term income stream and ways to minimize lifetime taxes. I can assist clients with cash flow analysis, tax minimization strategies including Roth conversion strategies, and decumulation strategies, among other things. Our focus is on clients age 55+ that are retired or within ten years of retirement. We work with clients from all walks of life, but we specialize in working with clients in K-12 and higher education, especially those clients with TIAA-CREF and those needing to make decisions about selecting a payout option in retirement from a state retirement program. I desire to simplify stock options and personal finance topics. My core belief is that money is a tool that can facilitate spending your time doing what you love, with who you love. I specialize in serving individuals in their 30's and 40's who hold stock options in a pre-IPO company. Together we navigate the nuances of equity compensation, manage the risks you're exposed to along the way, and provide a clarity for how a financial windfall can provide new opportunities for you & your family. Our relationship begins with understanding what you value, who is most important to you, how you desire to spend your time, and what challenges you're currently facing. I aim to create a safe space to ask questions and distill an actionable roadmap to guide you on a path for using your money to live a good life today and in the future. Interested in seeing what an advisory relationship could look like? I'd love the opportunity to meet you & see how I can be of help!
