Ulmer Financial brings together your investments and tax preparation in one place, so you don’t have to deal with multiple advisors. Our goal is to make managing your money and filing your taxes easier. I became fascinated by investing at a young age and bought my first stock when I was 10 years old. Despite its importance, I have found that personal finance is rarely talked about and people are often ill-equipped to plan for their futures. I decided to become a financial planner to help solve this problem. I am passionate about making financial planning accessible to my clients and helping them invest to achieve their goals. I also enjoy making clients' lives easier by streamlining their investments and tax preparation. Before starting Ulmer Financial in 2022, I worked as an assistant to a financial planner where I created and operated our investment management process, researched a variety of financial planning issues, and served clients. I have a BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce and am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (TM) professional. I am also an Enrolled Agent admitted to practice before the Internal Revenue Service. The most important thing in my life is my relationship with Jesus Christ. I seek to glorify Jesus Christ and make Him known, as I help individuals steward their finances.

Daniel Sheehan serves as a Resident Director at Merrill, bringing extensive experience in wealth management and financial planning. Since beginning his investment career in 2002 as an intern with First Union Securities, Daniel has worked with clients since 2008, guiding them through various market conditions with a disciplined and strategic approach. He emphasizes creating and adhering to clearly defined investment plans, diversification, and investing only in understandable assets. Daniel holds a Bachelor's Degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certificant, maintaining professional standards for competency and ethics. In his role, he offers clients access to Merrill’s investment insights alongside banking services from Bank of America, managing multiple facets of clients' financial lives while prioritizing fiduciary responsibility. Outside of work, Daniel resides in Keswick with his wife, son, dog, and cat. His personal interests include golfing, clay shooting, adult literacy advocacy through The READ Center, as well as enjoying Virginia wines, collecting whiskey, and gardening.

George Bassett is a Senior Financial Advisor with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. He joined Merrill in 2005 after earning a bachelor's degree in economics and history from Brown University. George holds multiple professional designations, including CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP), CERTIFIED PLAN FIDUCIARY ADVISOR (CPFA), Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC), Personal Investment Advisor (PIA), and Retirement Benefits Consultant (RBC). George specializes in retirement and legacy planning, tax minimization, wealth transfer strategies, and addresses client needs across areas such as divorce transition, family wealth management, philanthropic planning, and small business strategies. He focuses on creating goals-based financial strategies by tailoring investment solutions aligned with clients’ risk tolerance, time horizon, and liquidity needs. George emphasizes accessibility and communication, maintaining ongoing reviews and coordination with clients’ other professional advisors. Originally from Coral Gables, Florida, George grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia, where he lives with his wife, Elizabeth, and their three children. He graduated from Woodberry Forest School prior to attending Brown University. Outside of work, George participates in golf and skiing and is an avid fan of DC sports.

Nelson Ham is a Senior Financial Advisor based in Charlottesville, Virginia within the Global Wealth and Investment Management Division of Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. He offers a range of services including education planning, family wealth management strategies, legacy planning, personal retirement planning, philanthropic planning, portfolio management, socially responsible and ESG investing, individual and corporate investment strategy, tax minimization, and retirement income planning. Nelson provides clients with access to the resources of a global investment firm combined with a boutique advisory experience. Nelson is a Virginia native who earned his bachelor's degree in business from the University of Virginia. He holds Personal Investment Advisor (PIA) credentials and has completed the rigorous Practice Management Development program at Merrill Lynch. With over 10 years of experience at Merrill Lynch, Nelson assists high-net-worth clients by simplifying their financial lives and developing customized strategies tailored to their personal circumstances and goals. Outside of his professional role, Nelson is actively involved with the community through regular volunteer work with Special Olympics Virginia. He is also a member of the Monticello Cabinet and enjoys an active lifestyle including fishing, hiking, skiing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
