Jason Speciner

I have owned and operated this legacy investment-only RIA (founded by my dad in 1986) since 2019, and I'm reinventing our business as a planning-forward firm serving individuals and families with equity compensation. My pursuit and passion since taking the reigns at Resource Design has been to offer financial planning to an interesting group of people who I can relate to. We offer financial planning services, including investment advice and management, to individuals or families with equity compensation (stock options and RSUs). I find the complexity that equity compensation brings to the more traditional aspects of financial planning fascinating, especially in how it relates to the particular goals of individuals with equity comp, like reaching financial independence, retiring in their 50s, or taking one or more sabbaticals during their careers. And as a father of two young children, I know that there can be so much more to your financial picture than "just" your retirement prospects: buying a home, keeping spending in check, balancing student loans (or other debt service), taking family vacations, saving for your children's future, getting a will or other estate planning in place, developing an appropriate investing strategy, navigating taxes, or career changes. My credentials and education: • Certified Financial Planner® professional • MBA, University of Kentucky • BBA, Finance, University of Kentucky Prior to the financial advice industry, I worked in a variety of analytical and finance roles in logistics at Ryder, as well as some cherished time in the best restaurants in Lexington, KY (front and back of house). My wife Megan and our two daughters (so far) Beatrice and Ruby, live in Fort Collins, a mid-size town in Northern Colorado. I met Megan during our collegiate swimming days at the University of Kentucky, and I've since moved on to the many other athletic pursuits the beautiful state of Colorado offers: running, road cycling/MTB, hiking, skiing... the list goes on. Other fun facts: we have four cats, two electric cargo bikes, and (just) one car. Oh, and I bake about 100 loaves of sourdough bread a year.

That's why I'll work with my colleagues (two additional CFP® pros) with an ensemble approach to developing your financial plan. It'll cover your cash-flow, investment, tax, insurance, and estate planning on your way to achieving your goals. (P.S. One of my colleagues prepares personal income tax returns and manages investments for our clients, aka people like you.) I've been with FPFoCo since 2018 and thrive on creating truly comprehensive financial plans. Knowing that everyday income, spending, and saving make big-picture financial plans successful, I have a passion for optimizing cash-flow planning strategies. I also specialize in right-sizing your insurance policies to fit your needs, protecting you, your assets, and your future. In fact, I'm the director of cash-flow and insurance planning and FPFoCo’s resident DINKWAC (that’s short for “dual income no kids with a cat”). Outside of work, I enjoy playing hockey and being active in the great outdoors with my partner Zack. At home, you can find me listening to podcasts or cuddling my cat Coco.

Cory Kozisek is Senior Resident Director at Merrill's Northern Colorado office, where he combines his responsibilities as a wealth advisor and office manager. He has been with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management since 2016, following six years at Wells Fargo Advisors and earlier roles with Key Investment Services. With nearly 18 years in the financial industry, Cory leverages his experience to support clients in building and sustaining successful retirement plans and managing complex wealth management strategies. Cory holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Colorado State University and maintains professional designations including CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP), Accredited Wealth Management Advisor (AWMA), Chartered Retirement Plans Specialist (CRPS), and Personal Investment Advisor (PIA). His expertise encompasses liquidity management, personal retirement planning, portfolio management services, and retirement income strategies. Prior to focusing on wealth advising, he also gained experience as a personal banker and bank branch manager. Outside of his professional role, Cory dedicates much of his time to his wife and four daughters. His personal interests include fishing, fitness, biking, hunting, table tennis, traveling, and supporting the Denver Broncos. He is also involved in the community through Rapids Youth Soccer.

Gabriel Mecham is a Financial Solutions Advisor with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management. In his role, he works closely with clients to understand their priorities and develop strategies to pursue their short-, mid-, and long-term financial goals. His services include general investing, retirement planning, and preparing for unexpected financial needs. Additionally, he facilitates access to Bank of America specialists for banking, credit, home financing, and small business solutions. Gabriel holds the professional designations of Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) and Personal Investment Advisor (PIA). He attended Brigham Young University - Idaho and completed high school at Red Mountain High School. Gabriel communicates with clients in both English and Spanish to support their financial planning needs.
