He earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University.

He serves as Chair of the Board for The Parent Child Center of Tulsa and Chair of the Friends of Scouting Campaign for the Indian Nations Boy Scout Council. Matt is a past member of the Metro Christian Academy Board of Trustees and a member of the Committee of 100. He and his wife, Alice, have a son named Caleb and enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, biking, running, and traveling.
