About
Trinsic Capital provides discretionary, fee‑only portfolio management to a range of clients including individuals (both retail and high‑net‑worth), trusts, family limited partnerships, banking or thrift institutions, non‑profits, corporations and other business entities. Services are tailored to client objectives and delivered on a percentage‑of‑assets basis with regular account monitoring and reporting.
The firm’s investment process centers on fundamental analysis to identify stocks believed to be trading below their intrinsic value and offers three equity strategies: a Moderate Equity approach focused on large‑ and mid‑cap dividend payers, an Aggressive Equity strategy emphasizing small‑ and mid‑cap value with higher concentration and turnover, and a Broadly Diversified Equity option using no‑load mutual funds and ETFs. All accounts are managed on a discretionary basis with portfolio rebalancing as needed, and the firm states that tax efficiency is not a primary consideration unless clients specifically request it.
Distinctive disclosures in the ADV include an administrative reprimand in 2006 related to a lapsed registration, a disclosure event the firm reports to clients and one that is uncommon among peers. The brochure also notes a few operational practices that may differ from similarly sized advisers: Aggressive Equity accounts are excluded from household aggregation for fee breakpoints (which can affect fee outcomes), the firm generally requires custody at its recommended custodian and does not accept directed brokerage, and it does not provide recommendations on whether to roll over employer retirement plan assets into IRAs.
