Sila Financial provides fee-based portfolio management and broader wealth-management services to individuals (including high-net-worth households) as well as businesses, qualified retirement plans, trusts, estates, and non-profit organizations. Services include discretionary investment management, retirement-plan consulting and participant education, and general financial coordination with clients’ other advisors.

The firm constructs custom, client-specific portfolios rather than relying on model portfolios, typically using a mix of mutual funds, ETFs, REITs and individual securities and favoring low-cost index options when available; it will use active managers selectively and seeks institutional share classes to lower fund expense. Portfolios are monitored and actively rebalanced, employ both long-term buy-and-hold and shorter-term trading strategies as needed, and do not rely on technical security analysis.

Distinctive operational features include a policy of recommending only two custodians for client assets and declining to work with other custodians, and the firm’s use of standing letters of authorization and direct fee deduction arrangements that result in a custody classification.
