About
Schutt Capital Management provides discretionary portfolio management for individuals, trusts, partnerships and corporations through separately managed accounts and sponsored pooled investment vehicles. In addition to serving typical high‑net‑worth and individual clients, the firm acts as general partner and adviser to a private investment limited partnership and is the managing member of two pooled real‑estate entities.
The firm follows a value‑investing philosophy and generally makes investment decisions on a discretionary basis, primarily seeking opportunities in public equity markets while also permitting corporate and municipal debt, private securities, real‑estate equity and debt, options and ETFs; the Fund limits private or restricted securities to no more than 40% of capital. Investment communications include quarterly letters and audited financial statements, and the firm uses specified valuation methodologies and annual independent reviews for private holdings; it may also use options or ETFs for hedging or income generation.
What distinguishes Schutt from many peers is its role as sponsor and manager of multiple pooled vehicles alongside separately managed accounts, including real‑estate entities that currently provide a carried‑interest allocation (20% of available cash flow after a 7% preferred cumulative return and return of capital) for qualified members while excluding accredited investors from that carried interest. The firm’s offering documents also permit a future conversion of the private fund to a performance‑based fee structure, disclose valuation and audit procedures for illiquid investments, and set trading practices (for example, the Fund receives first preference in trade allocation), features that can create side‑by‑side management considerations.
