Promethean Investments LLP advises and manages private pooled investment vehicles for sophisticated investors, acting as investment manager to a suite of private funds offered into the U.S. under Regulation D and registered with the UK Financial Conduct Authority as unregulated alternative investment funds. As of April 1, 2025 the firm managed approximately US$391.7 million on a discretionary basis and operates with three partners.

Promethean pursues middle‑market private equity investments in the UK and U.S., conducting detailed financial, legal and commercial due diligence and retaining the ability to invest across the capital structure. Its funds typically target companies with enterprise values in the roughly US$5 million to US$200 million range, with historically about 80% of deployed capital in consumer‑sector businesses and a more recent strategic interest in hospitality and location‑based entertainment.

Distinctive features include a principal office and FCA authorisation in Edinburgh, operating as a Small Authorised UK AIFM rather than being U.S.-based, and management of funds organized under English, Jersey and Delaware structures. The firm also uses third‑party marketers in the U.S., UK and the Netherlands that are compensated by a percentage of revenue, and structures funds with multiple share classes and, in some cases, pre‑determined investments and negotiated opt‑out provisions for certain Limited Partners.
