Interactive typically manages accounts on a discretionary basis, provides regular reviews and quarterly reporting, and coordinates implementation with outside tax, legal and insurance specialists while operating under a fiduciary, fee-only model without commission-based product sales.
Several of the firm’s operational practices differ from many small advisers: it does not vote client proxies, it will not engage sub-advisors for clients who are residents of Washington, and it delivers financial planning only as part of an ongoing wealth-management relationship rather than as a standalone service. The firm also relies on institutional custody and research relationships (Schwab Institutional) and has a billing practice that treats margined securities as managed assets while excluding outstanding margin debt from the asset calculation.
