About

Hightower provides investment advisory services to a broad mix of retail and institutional clients through a network of Advisor Practices, offering discretionary and non‑discretionary portfolio management, financial planning, retirement plan consulting, and access to pooled vehicles and private fund investments. Clients include individuals, ERISA and non‑ERISA retirement plans, trusts and estates, corporations and other institutional clients such as banks, other registered investment advisers and, in some cases, sovereign wealth funds.

Investment approaches are shaped at the Advisor Practice level and range from strategic asset allocation and manager‑of‑managers solutions to tactical allocations, tax‑aware strategies and alternative exposures; Hightower also operates Investment Solutions and the Hightower One program that leverage proprietary and third‑party research (including NEPC) to construct multi‑asset portfolios and managed strategies. Advisors may engage Affiliated or Third‑Party Managers on a discretionary basis and Hightower’s home‑office trading and operations functions support portfolio implementation, rebalancing and annual review processes.

Compared with many large enterprise peers, Hightower’s brochure discloses several uncommon features: an explicit presence of non‑U.S. clients, direct relationships with non‑standard institutional clients (including sovereign wealth funds and banking or thrift institutions), and affiliated broker‑dealer activity that generates commissions and placement compensation. The firm’s platform also integrates affiliated trust, tax and OCIO/consulting capabilities and operates proprietary and sub‑advised pooled vehicles and programmatic relationships (including lending and cash‑management arrangements), which expand available solutions but introduce additional revenue sources and conflicts that are disclosed and managed.
