About
GC Alternative Management, LLC provides investment counsel and portfolio management to individual clients as well as investment companies, trusts and corporations, and reports a meaningful client base located outside the United States. Services are organized into three programs — Investment, Income and Trading — delivered under a wrap-fee arrangement with fees charged as a percentage of assets under management.
The firm pursues absolute-return oriented strategies with an emphasis on liquidity, investing primarily in liquid “plain vanilla” instruments (equities, bonds, preferreds, currencies, commodities, futures and options) and expressly avoiding illiquid or exotic structured products. Portfolio decisions are implemented on a non‑discretionary basis with client approval before execution, relying on both fundamental and technical information analysis, and monthly performance reporting with custody and execution provided through Interactive Brokers.
Noteworthy differences from many peers include sponsorship of a formal wrap-fee program and the availability of performance-based fees for qualified investors in its Income and Trading programs (a 20% fee subject to a 1‑year U.S. Treasury hurdle, a 3% minimum yield and a high‑water mark). The combination of a significant non‑U.S. client presence, acceptance of institutional clients, and primarily non‑discretionary account management distinguishes the firm from a typical small independent adviser.
