In a recent amendment the firm stated it no longer offers advisory services to individual retail clients, focusing its relationships on institutional, retirement plan, and adviser‑channel clients.

The firm’s investment approach centers on a proprietary Cyclical Asset Reallocation Algorithm (CARA), a rules‑based, macro‑driven tactical allocation system applied across its ETFs, SMAs, and CITs to target specified drawdown limits while remaining invested. Cabana publishes model and performance information through third‑party platforms—Nitrogen (including hypothetical projections and Risk Numbers), Morningstar and Informa—and maintains a firm‑level GIPS verification, while providing daily signals and licensing to TAMPs and other advisers.

Several features distinguish Cabana from many peers: it both manages registered funds (serving as sub‑advisor to ETFs) and acts as investment manager for CITs (including Target Date CITs launched with large plan-service partners), and it licenses models and trade signals to other advisers and platforms. The firm also has multiple business affiliations—common ownership with an SEC‑registered adviser, an affiliated insurance agency, and in‑house attorney practices—and discloses arrangements to compensate promoters or endorsements under applicable advertising rules.
