About

Aegis Financial Advisory provides fee-only comprehensive financial planning to individuals and to 401(k) plan sponsors, with a particular focus on pre-retiree couples and retirement-income and Social Security claiming strategies. The firm also prepares personal income tax returns and delivers year‑round, tax‑aware retirement planning as an IRS Enrolled Agent and state-licensed tax consultant.

The firm emphasizes an asset-class, passive investment approach using institutional, no‑load mutual funds—primarily Dimensional Fund Advisors and occasional Vanguard funds—to pursue broad diversification and tax efficiency, and it generally places taxable bonds in tax‑deferred accounts when appropriate. Aegis does not report assets under management, implements individualized recommendations without aggregating trades, and offers clients the option to self-direct fund purchases or use outside portfolio managers the firm recommends.

Noteworthy for a small independent advisory practice, the firm publishes client resources/periodicals and conducts educational seminars for plan participants and individuals in addition to advising clients directly. Aegis is NAPFA‑registered, holds multiple tax and retirement credentials (including Enrolled Agent, RICP, RSSA®, TPCP™, and ChFC), maintains a succession agreement with Focus Partners Wealth, and leverages Buckingham Retirement Solutions for ERISA 3(38) investment management for retirement plan clients.
