About

Advisory Services Network provides investment advisory and planning services to individuals and families (including trusts, estates, and retirement accounts), as well as corporations and employer‑sponsored retirement plans, through a network of independent investment adviser representatives (IARs) who may operate under the ASN name or other branded business names. Services include discretionary and non‑discretionary portfolio management, financial planning, investment consulting, third‑party manager selection, wrap fee programs, and retirement plan consulting.

IARs develop strategies based on clients’ stated objectives and risk tolerances, employing asset allocation, periodic rebalancing, and a mix of securities such as stocks, bonds, mutual funds, ETFs, options, and alternative investments; they may also allocate client assets to unaffiliated third‑party managers and monitor those managers’ holdings and performance. The firm offers flexible engagement types—standalone planning or consulting, subscription‑based advice, and both discretionary and non‑discretionary management—and relies on custodians for account valuation and fee billing.

Noteworthy aspects of the firm include its large platform model (more than two hundred IARs and over $10 billion in discretionary assets) in which IARs may be dually registered with broker‑dealers or licensed to sell insurance, potentially receiving transaction‑based or commission compensation in addition to advisory fees, and where ASN may share compensation arrangements with third‑party asset managers. ASN also typically charges management fees in advance and has an affiliated compliance consulting business, both of which are disclosed as potential conflicts of interest.
