About

Columbus Wealth Management serves individual clients — including high‑net‑worth individuals — along with trusts, business entities, estates, and charitable organizations, providing discretionary investment management and a range of financial planning services. The firm offers project‑based, ongoing comprehensive, and hourly planning engagements in addition to portfolio management tailored to client objectives.

The firm develops individualized investment policies and asset‑allocation targets using principles from modern portfolio theory and fundamental analysis, and conducts regular account reviews on a quarterly basis. It also integrates third‑party account‑linking technology to monitor held‑away employer retirement plans and, where compatible, can recommend allocation changes within those plans while managing most client accounts on a discretionary basis.

Distinctive features include a two‑advisor ownership structure established in 2021 that combines advanced professional credentials — including a CFA charterholder who also holds CFP certification — with a relatively small client roster, which the brochure indicates supports more hands‑on planning relationships and negotiable planning arrangements. The firm reports no outside affiliations or third‑party compensation, and documents formal policies for retirement plan rollover recommendations (PTE 2020‑02) and trusted‑contact/financial‑exploitation safeguards under state law.

Columbus Wealth Management

Prior to founding Columbus Wealth Management, Matthew provided investment advice and financial planning services to over 100 families at his prior firm. He also served as the firm's Director of Research and played a key role in the investment philosophy and portfolio construction which impacted nearly $2B of assets across 800+ households. In addition, he was responsible for various software implementation initiatives, several of which played a critical role in allowing a seamless transition to remote work at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. Matthew is always looking for opportunities to improve both personally and professionally. After years of diligent studying and multiple exams, he earned his CFA Charter in 2018 and his CFP marks in 2019. While Matthew isn't afraid to tear into spreadsheets, tax returns, financial statements, and analyze investments, his true passion is meeting with and serving his clients. Clients appreciate his ability to take an incredibly complex situation and break it down into relatable terms that are easy to understand. Matthew lives in downtown Columbus with his partner, Braden. They love spending time with family and friends and staying active. Their top vacation destinations are visiting family in South Carolina and Florida, snowboarding in Colorado, and cruising in the Caribbean!
