I’ve served as a personal financial planner for a quarter century. I’ve worked in multiple roles, including leadership positions, but I’ve always served as a client relationship advisor. I’ve worked for very large firms, and I’ve co-owned a startup which developed into a leading multi-state firm. Today, I own and operate a boutique firm designed to offer concierge family office services and trusted financial guidance to select individuals and families. Wood Family Wealth Advisory, LLC is a Registered Investment Advisor. We offer comprehensive, fee-only, financial planning and investment management. Russ Wood is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® practitioner who holds a Master of Science degree in Financial Planning and a diploma in Executive Coaching. Russ is also a former engineer and a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Desmond Blue is a Wealth Management Advisor at Merrill, specializing in serving business owners, athletes, and families. He holds multiple professional designations including Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER (CFP), Certified Private Wealth Advisor (CPWA), and Sports & Entertainment Accredited Wealth Management Advisor (SE-AWMA), among others. Desmond focuses on areas such as business exits, liquidity events, complex wealth transitions, tax-smart strategies, retirement planning, and legacy planning. Desmond earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Lee University and an MBA from Liberty University. His professional experience is informed by an eight-year career as a financial advisor and his prior experience as a professional basketball player across five continents. He partners with clients to design strategies for investing, wealth transfer, and managing new wealth. Residing in Canton, Georgia with his wife Jill, Desmond is involved in community organizations including City of Refuge and City Takers. Outside of his professional role, he enjoys playing drums and spending time with his family.
