I began my financial career working as a bank teller during spring breaks and summers while at college. Always strong with numbers, this role introduced me to the importance of developing trusting relationships and delivering superior client service. I have put these skills to work for both institutional and private offices, advising clients and constructing investment portfolios for the past 10 years. In 2014, I formed Everlong Financial in Austin, Texas. My goal was to create a financial planning practice that integrates my investment experience with technology of today. I strongly believes that everyone can benefit from having a formal financial plan in place. As a young professional, I know this is especially true for those just growing into their careers and wealth. In 2009, I married my wife Elizabeth in the mountain town of Asheville, North Carolina. Together with our three children, we enjoy walking the trail around Lady Bird Lake. I am an avid runner and I challenge myself to run 100 miles in the heat of July each year. Living in the "Live Music Capital of the World," I enjoy live music and searching for vinyl LPs to broaden my music collection. I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Psychology. I obtained the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ certification in June 2009.

Ross Patterson founded Simaris Financial in 2019 to help individuals and families discover their true purpose and build lives that are fulfilling, energizing, and meaningful. Ross was a software engineer before discovering the Kinder Institute and making a major shift in his life through the EVOKE process. Through Kinder he realized his passion for combining Life Planning with financial expertise, and Simaris was born. Ross spends his free time with his wife, Kristin, his two adult children, and their dog, Pepper. Ross is an active and passionate believer in serving his community. He served for 5 years as the Pro Bono Director of the Financial Planning Association (Austin Chapter), helping individuals and partnering with community-based organizations to offer planning advice regardless of means. For several years, he has also served as a Volunteer Leadership Team Member at Foundation Communities, providing IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) to Central Texas citizens. It all started over a decade ago. I found my love for financial planning by asking my friends a simple question out of curiosity, "how do you personally manage your money and invest?". I realized something very important: not only did a lot of people not know if they were managing their money correctly, they didn't even know where to begin finding the confidence in their strategy (if they had one at all). I quickly learned how much I love helping people better understand where their money can take them. I particularly have a passion for the markets and investing which DIY traders and investors have appreciated. Finance has been an interest and passion of mine as long as I can remember. As a child, my dad would teach me about investing and I was fascinated that I could earn a little bit of money and then it could grow on it’s own. Those simple principles were built on throughout my childhood and studying finance in college was a natural fit. I graduated from Texas A&M University with Bachelor degrees in both accounting and finance. Upon graduating, I limited my job search to my beloved hometown (Austin) where the woman I love (Kaimey) was living. I accepted an auditor position with the state government and traveled around Texas performing financial and compliance audits. Even though it wasn’t my dream job because everyone hates auditors, I took a lot of pride in working with my clients instead of against them. In those years while auditing, Kaimey and I were married, I obtained my CPA (Certified Public Accountant) and CIA (Certified Internal Auditor) designations, and we added twins to our family, Hudson and Harper. When life settled down a bit after the twin infant/toddler years, I decided to shift careers and focus on my passion of personal financial planning. I was fortunate to join a fee-only financial planning company where I advised high net-worth clients and managed other planners. This was a good home to me for several years, and during that time I added my CFP® (CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™) and LHIC (Life and Health Insurance Counselor) designations to my other credentials. In 2018 we felt God calling us to something new for our family. I took a leap of faith to leave my comfortable job and start my own business. And Avant Financial Advisors was born! We are excited to use this company to help others and make our clients’ dreams become financially possible. Hudson and Harper are teenagers now and keep our family’s free-time full! We love supporting them in their activities and being involved in their school. We spend lots of time outside: hiking, biking, being on the lake, and exploring around Austin. We love to travel and discover new-to-us places in this big, beautiful world, but coming home always feels great too.
