As a member of the financial independence community, I understand the value of quality fee only advice catering to the complex and "nontraditional" route we are taking to life. I have built a "lifestyle" practice, where I can serve clients, maintain my balanced lifestyle with two girls, pursue my hobbies and travel. I primarily work with clients on an ongoing retainer basis, charged with a monthly billing arrangement. For legacy (separated) clients or family of clients, I offer hourly based planning. I also prepare tax returns and manage assets, both of which I charge a separate fee for. After graduating from University of Maryland, College Park, I worked in public accounting doing tax preparation and consulting for high net worth individuals, estates and trusts. I changed careers into financial planning in 2013, working mainly with clients pursuing a traditional retirement path, including attorneys, physicians, executives and families with wealth. After working for a large planning firm in the DC area, I launched my firm in 2018. I am a CFP® and CPA. Given my background, I specialize in tax planning, retirement planning and frugality!

Lamar Watson, a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, founded Dream Financial Planning to serve the needs of young professionals and minorities who typically don’t have access to fee-only and fiduciary financial planning. Prior to founding Dream, Lamar worked at a wealth management firm in Reston, VA, for over a decade. At his most recent firm, he served as the lead research analyst on a team of advisors that managed approximately $2 Billion in assets. He also served as a Vice President and Financial Advisor in the Private Wealth Management division. In this role, he worked with hundreds of clients across the country to help them meet their financial goals. Born in D.C. and a lifelong resident of Virginia, Lamar is a die-hard fan of many Washington D.C. area sports teams, most notably the Washington Redskins. His love for the Redskins all began when his grandfather started taking him to games when he was just eight-years-old. Previously, Lamar served as a volunteer basketball coach for the Chantilly Youth Association and Frederick County Parks and Recreation. In his free time, Lamar enjoys working out, biking on the Washington & Old Dominion Trail, and traveling. I founded Luminate Financial Planning because I am passionate about the power of planning and about helping you build a life based on what matters most to you. Before leaving my prior career in corporate finance, and before I knew financial planning was even a profession, I built my own extensive plan for my family. We wanted to figure out if I could take time off of my career to start a family and become a stay-at-home mom while our kids were young. That basic plan (built with an Excel spreadsheet) served as a guidepost for the financial decisions my family and I have faced. My background  I have an MBA in Finance from Georgetown University and an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Bloomsburg University. I hold the CFP® certification and passed the Series 65 Uniform Investment Adviser exam. I worked as an associate financial advisor and wealth planner for an independent broker-dealer before launching my own practice.

Outside of my practice, I enjoy spending time with my three grown children. David Miller is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional and U.S. Air Force veteran. He holds a master’s degree from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (Financial Services Industry, 2005) and completed the CFP® education at the University of Virginia. David founded Rule72 Financial to help professionals, business owners, and inheritors simplify wealth, reduce taxes, and build lasting legacies. He is also a Certified Kingdom Advisor®. In previous advisory roles, Jonathan served affluent and ultra-high-net-worth families, professionals, and executives, and contributed to the training and development of new advisors. Jonathan currently serves on the Emerging Champions Board and Scholarship Committee with Kingdom Advisors.

Gladwyn Financial Advisors, Inc. is owned and operated by Timothy T. Murray and his wife Polly A. Murray. Tim has lived in Northern Virginia since 1972, has been a small business owner since 1993, and a financial planner since 2002. In 2000, Tim and Polly closed their learning center to allow Tim to fully pursue what had been, for many years, his undeniable interest — personal finance. After completing the required coursework and passing the CFP exam in 2002, Tim affiliated with Capital Planning & Investments, Inc. in Fairfax, as a financial planner and investment advisor. In 2005, Tim decided to go it alone and founded Murray Financial, Inc., a registered investment advisory (RIA) firm, which was subsequently renamed Gladwyn Financial Advisors in 2021. Tim’s motivation to start this business was his belief that fee-based investment advice alone, as opposed to dual agency (fee and commissioned based) was most appropriate for, not only him, but more importantly, his clients. As an RIA-only, Tim was then able to serve his clients without the corporate or institutional conflicts-of-interest prevalent in the financial services industry. Gladwyn’s investment advice revenue is limited to hourly charges or fees based on assets under management (AUM). While no longer preparing income tax returns for clients, Tim has been an income tax practitioner since 1986. He is a member of the National Association of Tax Preparers and annually maintains and improves his tax knowledge by way of continuing education courses. In 2006, after discovering that several new clients had previously made very poor divorce settlement decisions, Tim went back to school (again) to earn the Certified Divorce Financial Analyst® (CDFA®) designation so that he could be better equipped to help those going through this very emotional difficult and financially trying time. With Tim's wide range of education, work, and life experiences, he provides a broad and balanced perspective to financial decisions. He enjoys and is fully dedicated to educating others on their personal finances.
