James Happ is the Senior Resident Director and Wealth Management Advisor leading the Happ Adam Darah Group at Merrill. In this role, he directs the team’s vision with a focus on client transparency, industry knowledge, and setting high standards for client experience. Since joining Merrill in July 1994, James has applied insights from his Wall Street and regional experiences to deliver financial guidance tailored to a wide range of client needs.
His expertise covers college education planning, family wealth management, legacy planning, retirement income strategies, philanthropic planning, and portfolio management services, among other areas. James holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ (CFP) designation and is also a Personal Investment Advisor (PIA). He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Dayton and is bilingual in English and Spanish.
Outside of his professional duties, James serves on several community and educational boards, including St. John's Jesuit High School and Academy Foundation Board, the Ursuline Foundation Board, and the Dana Open Executive Committee. He participates in community events such as the 2022 American Heart Association Heart Walk. James enjoys a variety of personal interests including basketball, cooking, gardening, golfing, photography, and spending time with his family.
