Carson McLean, CFP®, is the founder of Altruist Wealth Management, a flat-fee, fee-only fiduciary firm serving clients nationwide. With over 15 years of experience in the financial services industry, Carson is committed to helping individuals and families navigate financial complexity with transparent, fiduciary advice—free from the constraints of traditional asset-based fees. Before founding Altruist Wealth Management, Carson was a Regional Director at Dimensional Fund Advisors (DFA), where he partnered with fiduciary wealth management firms to implement evidence-based investment strategies and enhance their financial planning practices. His approach prioritizes financial independence, tax-efficient strategies, and personalized, goals-based planning tailored to each client’s needs. Carson lives in Charlotte, North Carolina, with his wife, Ellen, and their four children—Davy, Frank, Lewis, and Margot. As a parent of child loss, he is deeply committed to advocacy and research for Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC). He serves as president of Frank McLean Forever, a nonprofit dedicated to his son’s legacy, and sits on the board of directors for the SUDC Foundation. Carson holds a BA from Loyola University Chicago and an MBA from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. He completed his CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ education at Wake Forest University.

Jim Charles, CFP®, CFA, CDFA® is the co-founder of Sanctuary Financial Planning, a flat-fee, fee-only firm specializing in retirement and major life transitions. He brings more than three decades experience in comprehensive financial planning, tax-efficient retirement income design, and evidence-based investment management. Jim is also the co-author of the best-selling book From Work to What’s Next – Designing a Life You Don’t Want to Retire From, a project rooted in his own “failed retirement.” After stepping away from work, Jim discovered firsthand that financial readiness and life readiness are two very different things. That experience inspired him to re-emerge with purpose and ultimately create Sanctuary — a firm dedicated to helping others design transitions that feel meaningful, not disorienting. At Sanctuary, clients receive ongoing financial planning, proactive tax strategy, and integrated wealth management — all for a single, transparent, flat fee. Nick Foy is the founder of Greenway Wealth Advisors, an independent financial advisory firm located in Charlotte, NC. Greenway helps generous people pursue and enjoy financial independence. He started his career in finance at Vanguard in 2007, where he learned the most important foundational money management and time-tested investing principles. In 2011, Nick left Vanguard to open the Charlotte office of CAVU Wealth Advisors, an independent advisory firm based in California. In 2018, he formed Greenway to create a firm that served the needs of Generation X & Y clients who tend to have views on money, finances, and retirement that are very different from those of prior generations. Nick grew up in California and has called Charlotte home since 2005. He attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and completed his Certificate in Financial Planning from the University of Georgia. In 2010, Nick was awarded the prestigious CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation. He married Natalie in 2006, and together they have two children: Theo and Nora. Nick served as a trustee at Mosaic Church in Charlotte, and was on the advisory board for the Dreamcatchers Society at Levine Children's Hospital where he also formerly served on the Family Advisory Council. Additionally, he spends time volunteering as a lunch buddy at Brookstone School. In the wee hours of the morning, you can find Nick working out with the men of F3 Nation, and you might see him at the pool where he swims and plays water polo.
