About

Stephen McGuire is a Wealth Management Advisor and Senior Portfolio Advisor with Merrill Lynch Wealth Management, where he is a member of the Boston Executive Services Team. He works primarily with entrepreneurs, founders, executives, and key associates at both privately held and publicly traded companies. Stephen’s expertise includes equity compensation services, executive compensation, legacy planning, tax minimization, and retirement income strategies. He guides clients through complex equity ownership issues such as stock option and restricted stock strategies, 10b5-1 plans, and related tax elections, helping them integrate these elements thoughtfully into their overall financial plans.

Stephen joined Merrill Lynch Wealth Management in 2012 and is among the founding members of the Boston Executive Services team. His process begins with understanding what is most important to his clients, then prioritizing their goals and implementing custom, adaptable investment strategies on a discretionary basis. He emphasizes a straightforward and transparent approach, coordinating with clients’ other professional advisors including CPAs and estate attorneys to develop comprehensive financial strategies aligned with clients’ intentions.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and International Business from the University of Maine at Orono, where he was a member of the Honors College and played varsity football. Stephen holds the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® (CFP) designation awarded by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards, Inc., as well as the Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor™ (CRPC™) designation. Outside of his professional role, Stephen enjoys baseball, basketball, biking, chess, football, golfing, hiking, running—including running marathons—and skiing.

Dreamfield Planning Group, LLC

I began my career in the financial services industry nearly ten years ago. Prior to founding Dreamfield Planning Group, I served as an associate wealth management advisor at Sconset Wealth Management—an advisory practice nested in the downtown Boston office of Northwestern Mutual—where I developed financial plans and managed investment assets. In a preceding role in the same office, I led an internal business unit providing investment consulting services to multiple financial advisors representing more than $200 million of assets under management (AUM). Previous to that, I served as an associate financial advisor at a Foxborough, Massachusetts financial planning practice and as a research analyst at a Cambridge, Massachusetts public policy research firm. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in History from Hendrix College and a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University. I am both a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and a CFA Charterholder. I have lived for many years in Milton, Massachusetts with my wife Allie and our son Ben. In my spare time, I enjoy travel, reading, playing guitar, and taking long walks with the family dog, Louie.
